Prepare your documents
Prepare your documents for signing and select itsme® as a signing method. You can combine this with one or more signing methods to give your signer the choice.
STEP 2
Send to signer
In just a few clicks your documents are ready to be signed. Your signers receive an email with a signing link. A screen pops ups where the signer can go through the document and start the signing method with itsme®.
STEP 3
Sign with itsme®
The signer follows the steps in the itsme® application to identify himself with his phone number and personal itsme® password. If the password is correct the document will be signed automatically, and he will be redirected to the Nitro Sign eSignatures platform.

The itsme® app is certified by eIDAS (The European Union's Electronic Identification, Authentication and trust Services) and can be used to meet PSD2 (EU open banking regulation) and GDPR (EU privacy protection) requirements.

What is itsme®?
itsme® is an initiative of Belgian Mobile ID, a consortium of four leading Belgian banks (Belfius, BNP Paribas Fortis, ING, KBC) and mobile network operators (Orange, Proximus, Telenet).
The itsme® app offers all Belgian citizens the unique opportunity to get a mobile ID on their smartphone. This allows them to identify themselves online and to conduct digital transactions in a highly secure way. The app replaces the laundry list of passwords, user names, tokens and card readers with an intuitive application to access a wide range of online services. And thanks to multi-factor technology and data encryption, itsme® offers the highest level of security.

How does identification work with itsme®?
To get started with itsme® is easy easy. Every Belgian citizens over 16 with an bank account at one of Belgium’s major banks or everyone with a Belgian Identity Card (eID) over 18 can create a itsme® account. Once you’ve installed the app on your smartphone, you can use it for all government applications, at your bank and several other online services.
you use itsme® the same way every time: you initiate an action (e.g. a login) at a company, you get a notification in your itsme® app and you confirm with your secret personal code or your Fingerprint or FaceID.

How does signing with itsme® work?
itsme® Sign is a fully qualified mobile signature and can be handled on-the-go with your mobile device, without needing to use a card reader. From a technical point of view, in the case of a qualified electronic signature, a personal certificate will be generated the first time the signer signs with itsme®. One that only that person will be able to use from then on. So, if the associated process involves a significant risk of any kind, you will be more inclined to use itsme® Sign as this one is qualified signature and provides non-repudiation.
The signing method is available in the Nitro Sign eSignatures solution via API or within the standalone Cloud platform. This way Nitro Sign allows you to sign your documents via your smartphone in a qualified way.
